We delivered the Pattaya Bot

On this post, I'll share about the assistant we built for EntdeckePattaya, what was the purpose behind it, and how we built.
What is EntdeckePattaya
EntdeckePattaya is a tourism information site about Pattaya, a city on Thailand's eastern Gulf coast known for its beaches.
Its owner Dennis, wanted to have an AI chatbot that could help visitors navigate the site more easily.
At the time of the collaboration, the website had 87 unique URLs, each one of them with valuable information about different aspects of Pattaya.
From practical tips, the nightlife of Pattaya, the most important apps you need to have during your trip, flights discounts, and even, medical guidance and emergency information, EntdeckePattaya has many resources and useful information about the city.
Even though the website has a very nice and friendly navigation, given the amount of pages, it's sometimes hard for some users to find what they are looking for.
An AI assistant is a perfect solution to help the site visitors find more quickly and accurately the information they need.
The PattayaBot
Before start building the chatbot, we analyzed the requirements for the Pattaya Bot to decide what key aspects we needed to consider.
One important requirement was the ability to display a short message about the user's question along with the source of the information provided.
Voiceflow has many features like Conversational AI steps, flow design primitives, and a built-in RAG-like Knowledge Base.
But we knew right away, that using the Response AI step with the Knowledge Base option, was not going to be enough to cover Dennis' requirements.
So, we decided to build a Voiceflow Function to query the Knowledge Base using one of the Voiceflow's API, the Query API.
This API allows you to query the indexed and vectorized documents of your agent, to build more advanced use cases.
Once we had that cover, we added all the necessary prompts and steps to deliver a great experience for visitors.
The Results
Overall, the project was a success and Dennis is very happy with the results.
The chatbot is able to cover the majority of the questions from users, helping them navigate the site more easily.
One cool feature is the ability for the chatbot to ask clarification about the user's question in those cases where it's ambiguous or its lacks context.
The assistant can ask further questions until is able to find and provide an answer contained in its Knowledge Base.
Another interesting and valuable information it can provide is about medical emergencies, like the number of hospitals and ambulance services.
According to Dennis, this can potenlially save lives, since it's now easier and FASTER to ask a question to the PattayaBot, than trying to find this information on your own.
